Rangers tipped for January ‘shake-up’ as Yilmaz ‘going to leave’

Alan Hutton has insisted Michael Beale will want to “shake up” the Rangers squad in January.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers right-back said there is a lot of uncertainty within the squad that needs to be ironed out before Beale can decide who he wants to bring in.

As quoted by the Rangers Review (2 January), the Light Blues boss said he wants to bring in the “right” people in January who will be “big players” for the next two or three years.

Several of his squad are out of contract in the summer, including star men Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos who are both yet to agree new deals and could leave for free at the end of the season.

Speaking to Sky Sports last month (15 December), Beale is hopeful his relationship with the players from his last stint at Ibrox will encourage the pair to sign new deals but is happy to wait for them to take their time.

When asked what areas the manager needs to strengthen in the window, Hutton told Football Insider:I think it is a difficult one.

He is obviously still assessing the squad and he will want to put his own stamp on it as well. You think of the situations with Kent and Morelos, are they going to sign are they going to leave? Does he need to replace them?

Rangers

Does he need cover at right-back? Is [Ridvan] Yilmaz going to leave and does he need a left-back? There is a lot of situations within there.

The boys that are out of contract and coming to the end of their career, it depends on them as well. So I think there is a lot of work to be done within Rangers and Michael Beale will want to start in January to shake things up a bit.
