Rangers tipped to agree ‘big’ Ryan Kent deal after £25m development – Hutton

Alan Hutton has claimed Ryan Kent could sign a new deal after Rangers secured Champions League group stage football.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender suggested the money the Ibrox club are set to make from the European competition will enable them to “hold on to their best players”.

The Bears secured their place in the group stage of the competition after beating PSV Eindhoven 1-0 in the second leg of the playoff on Wednesday (24 August).

They drew 2-2 with the Dutch side in the home leg at Ibrox.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side have been drawn in a group with Liverpool, Napoli and Ajax.

As reported by the Rangers Review (24 August), the Gers are guaranteed to earn at least £25million by progressing to the group stages.

That figure does not include prize money for potential group stage victories or further qualification.

Hutton said the money will allow Rangers to secure the long-term future of Kent, whose current deal expires at the end of 2022-23.

I think they can hold on to their best players, I think that’s the biggest thing in this situation,” he told Football Insider.

Connor Goldson signed at the start of the season, Ryan Kent will be desperate to play in the Champions League so he’ll probably secure his long-term future after what happened.

There’s a couple of things going on in the background but at this moment in time, I don’t believe they’ll have to sell any of their best players with this money that’s going to be coming into the club. I think if anything they’ll look to strengthen.

In other news, Hutton has issued ‘big’ Rangers claim after £6m development.
