Rangers tipped to complete multiple late loan & free signings – McAvennie
Rangers have been urged to look for loans and free agents after failing to qualify for the Champions League group stage.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, ex-Scotland striker Frank McAvennie believes Rangers could “do well” with a few loans and free agents as they seek to bolster their squad before the end of the transfer window.
Rangers have lost a lot of experience so far this transfer window with the likes of Connor Goldson, Ryan Jack, and John Lundstrem all departing.
Football Insider revealed (August 20) that Rabbi Matondo may also be on the way out with Leeds United preparing to make an offer for the winger.
Rangers should explore loan and free market
Still, the club are in desperate need of bringing in fresh faces if they wish to challenge rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premier League title.
“You can do well with loan signings and free agents but you’ve got to make them right”, McAvennie told Football Insider.
“Sometimes they don’t all make it but some of them do, some just need a kick up the backside to get going again.
“If the manager can get someone like that for free or someone who’s a bit down on their luck then why not?
“If he thinks he can get the best out of them then go for it.

“I think that’s all they can do at the moment because they’ve been in and out with law suits and all that, I feel sorry for them and the supporters.
“I don’t think anyone knows what’s happening over there and it will certainly be a while before they get back to Ibrox and that’s a shame.”
