Rangers tipped to complete signing of Borna Barisic replacement after source’s reveal – Hutton

Alan Hutton has suggested Ben Jackson could replace Borna Barisic or Ridvan Yilmaz at Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers right-back said Jackson, 21, is at an age where he will want to play regular first team football.

On Thursday (10 November), sources told this site that the Light Blues are keeping tabs on the Huddersfield town defender.

The left-back has established himself in the senior team under new manager Mark Fotheringham.

Jackson’s current contract runs until 2024.

The Ibrox club are keen to strengthen their left-back options amid doubts over the long term future of Barisic, 30, whose contract also runs until 2024.

When asked if the Gers would be considering Jackson for the future, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think at 21 when you are playing at your club and you have got another one that is interested, you want to come and play games.

You do not want to be seen as the future at 21, it is different if you are 18. When you get to that age you want to be playing as much as possible so you want to fight for that starting left-back role.

Rangers

I think that throws questions up about the players that are already there. They have got Yilmaz, Barisic, does that mean somebody has to move on.

It has been a problem area this season and if that is what they are looking at it is probably someone who is going to compete for the place.
