Rangers tipped to sign ‘household name’ this summer after journalist’s transfer update – McLeish
Alex McLeish has tipped Giovanni van Bronckhorst to sign “household names” for Rangers in the summer transfer window.
The former Ibrox boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Light Blues need proven quality to bolster their squad ahead of next season.
Journalist Dean Jones, as quoted by Give Me Sport (10 April), has reported Rangers are “quite far ahead” in terms of identifying and making moves for their transfer targets.

The Glasgow giants brought Aaron Ramsey, Amad Diallo and James Sands in on loan in January, as well as young right-back Mateusz Zukowski on a permanent deal.
McLeish suggested Van Bronckhorst would want more proven quality in his side next season.
McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Gio must be looking to put his own imprint on the team. That will be at the back of his mind every single day since he came in.
“At the moment, it seems that he’s not been able to do that. We’re still talking about potential ones coming to Rangers. It’s all guys we don’t really know.
“I do feel they have to concentrate on getting more household names into the first team.
“It’s a bit like Jack Simpson coming in at 24, 25, he’d only played a handful of games for Bournemouth. At that age, to come and play for Rangers and hit the ground running, it’s a very strange one.
“I always felt that was a difficult one. The recruitment team has to come up with something special.”

Rangers signed four players – Juninho Bacuna, Fashion Sakala, John Lundstram and Nnamdi Ofoborh – last summer.
Only Lundstram has been a regular starter while Bacuna left Ibrox for Birmingham in January.
In other news, McLeish has issued “monstrous” Rangers verdict ahead of Celtic showdown – “It’s agony”.
