Paul Robinson has tipped Rangers to sign two more players this summer and run Celtic very close for the Scottish Premiership this season.

The former England number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, is adamant that Steve Gerrard will once again look to raid the English loan market when the window down south opens next week.

The Gers have made an impressive start to preseason with 2-0 wins over Ligue 1 giants Lyon and Nice.

Ianis Hagi, Calvin Bassey and Jon McLaughlin have already been signed this summer as Gerrard looks to build a squad capable or preventing Celtic winning their 10th consecutive title.

However, Robinson claimed his former England teammate is not done yet and will delve into the English loan market, once again, when the window opens on next week.

“It is a great start for them,” he told Football Insider.

“They can take a lot of confidence from that and what the did last year, how close they ran Celtic.

“Steven has used the loan system in England very cleverly before and I suspect we will see another couple of additions coming in once the English transfer window opens.

“I really do believe they will run Celtic close this year.”

The English transfer window will open on Monday and run for 10 weeks before closing on 5 October.

Football Insider understands that the Gers have interest in a number of players from England including Rhian Brewster, Ivan Toney and Grady Diangana.
