Rangers title bid could be over within hours as ‘big problem’ emerges – Kenny

Rangers must beat St Johnstone to keep their title hopes alive with Celtic threatening to run away at the top of the Premiership.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider ahead of tonight’s clash.

Rangers have only taken 13 points from the last 24 available in the Scottish Premiership.

This run of form has seen the Gers fall three points behind Celtic, who remain top of the table.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side travel to St Johnstone tonight (2 March) and Kenny insists

“They need to start picking up points,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“13 from 24, for Rangers, is just not good enough. They were a few clear before this run of form as well.

“Now they are three behind so it’s something they need to address. That form is a big problem.

“They were 2-0 up at the weekend and drew 2-2, that’s just not good enough for Rangers.

“They have just beaten Dortmund then they go and throw a win away like that.

“It just shows that inconsistency in the league and that is something Van Bronckhorst needs to fix as soon as possible.

“If that record of 13 in 24 continues then Celtic will run away with the title, it won’t even be close because they look like they are in great form.

“They need to win tonight then build from there. It’s away from home but that can’t matter to them. Just win.”

Rangers drew 2-2 with Motherwell on Sunday (27 February).

They lead 2-0 at half-time but a poor second half saw the points shared.

In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed Rangers and Celtic are pushing for a seven-figure deal the rest of SPFL will hate.
