Rangers told to complete striker signing after £13m development – expert
Alan Hutton has claimed Rangers will look to strengthen at centre-back and up front before the end of the transfer window.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said Giovanni van Bronckhorst can use the money from Champions League qualification to secure his “top targets”.
The Bears secured their place in the group stage of the competition after beating PSV Eindhoven 1-0 in the second leg of the playoff on Wednesday (24 August).
They drew 2-2 with the Dutch side in the home leg at Ibrox.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side have been drawn in a group with Liverpool, Napoli and Ajax for the next round of the competition.
As reported by the Rangers Review (24 August), the Ibrox club have already secured £13.2million by bagging their place in the group stage of the European competition.
Ibrox stalwart Alfredo Morelos was not included in the travelling squad for the game that secured their place in the group stages.
The striker is yet to start a game for Rangers this season with recent arrival Antonio Colak taking his place.
Hutton claimed up front is one area where Van Bronckhorst will be looking to bolster with the cash boost.
“I believe Giovanni van Bronckhorst had a plan A and a plan B depending on what happened with the Champions League.

“Hopefully they can go forward now and get their top targets.
“For Rangers still, centre-back is an issue. There’s issues up front. If the right opportunity comes about, I think they will strengthen.“
