Rangers told to ‘look at Celtic’ and complete January deal after source’s £80m reveal – pundit
Noel Whelan has claimed it would be “unwise” for Rangers to let January pass by without adding “one or two quality players” to their squad.
The former Leeds and Aberdeen striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, cited the activity of title rivals Celtic ahead of the winter window.
Football Insider revealed on Sunday (30 October) that Rangers are set to announce club-record revenues of £80million-plus in their next set of financial results.

It is understood that the Ibrox club are well on course to smash their 15-year record of £64.5million from the 2007-08 campaign.
Rangers reportedly spent just £12.8million on players in the summer window despite raking in £28.7million on the sales of Calvin Bassey, Joe Aribo, and Cedric Itten.
According to reports from Japan, Glasgow rivals Celtic have already agreed a deal for Vissel Kobe defender Yuki Kobayashi ahead of the January window.
Whelan told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “They’ve got to start looking at players for January, absolutely.
“Look at Celtic. They’re being linked with players, doing deals for players ahead of the window again. They’re strengthening that squad.
“It would be unwise for Rangers and Van Bronckhorst to not look to freshen things up.
“New players breathe new life into teams. If the right deals are available, then they’ve got to bring in one or two quality players.
“We know they’ve got the funds.”

Rangers trail Celtic by four points atop the Scottish Premiership.
The rivals’ next Old Firm meeting comes on 2 January at Ibrox.
