Rangers told to sell Jack after crushing new update – expert

Frank McAvennie claims Rangers need to make a “big decision” over the future of Ryan Jack.

The former Celtic hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, was reacting to the latest injury news on the midfielder.

Speaking to GiveMeSport (29 December) Glasgow Evening Times journalist Chris Jack claims Jack, 29, may not return to Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side until February.

The midfielder returned from his long-term calf injury in November but suffered a setback in training earlier this month.

As confirmed by Van Bronckhorst on 14 December, Jack was said to be missing until after the winter break.

McAvennie was gutted to hear Jack may now be out for even longer and claimed Rangers may look at selling him.

“If he doesn’t come back soon, there is no point in keeping him,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“You need players who are going to be fit and available. I like the boy but if he’s been out for a year with this thing, you can’t trust he will be fit.

“But then you have another problem because who will take him if he won’t play?

“It’s gutting to hear. I know what it’s like to miss football with an injury.

“It’s bad for Rangers and it’s bad for him. You do worry for him at this point.

“The fact that he came back and then has got injured again or maybe made that first one worse, that’s the worry for me.

Rangers

“I think Rangers have a big decision to make at the end of the season.

“I just hope he can get back playing soon, I want him in that Scotland squad.”
