Rangers told to sign Ben Foster after deal agreed – pundit
Noel Whelan has told Rangers to complete the signing of free agent Ben Foster with two goalkeepers potentially on their way out of Ibrox this summer.
The former Leeds and Aberdeen striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, cited Celtic’s 2021 capture of former England shot-stopper Joe Hart.
Foster, 39, who has eight caps for the Three Lions, is a free agent after leaving Watford at the end of his contract earlier this summer.

Allan McGregor, 40, extended his Ibrox stay in June until the end of this season but was only on the bench for the season-opening win against Livingston on Saturday (30 July).
Rangers have let Andy Firth leave to Connah’s Quay Nomads on a free transfer, while Man United, St Johnstone, and St Mirren are all interested in Robby McCrorie.
Whelan backed “experienced” ex-West Brom star Foster to replace McGregor.
He told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think there are players out there [to replace McGregor] – with Ben Foster one of them.
“They’ll have seen what Celtic have done with Joe Hart.
“He’s got the experience, he’s still got the hunger – and he can deal with European football as well, having been in and around that England set-up.
“There are options out there. I think they will probably look for a bit more experience.

“To get rid of two goalkeepers – if you’re bringing in one, you have to get it right.
“McGregor is probably susceptible to a lot more injuries and knocks now, so you have to get it spot on.”
