Rangers TV pundit issues ‘huge’ Alfredo Morelos claim as pictures emerge via Sky

Alan Hutton has admitted Alfredo Morelos’ injury scare will be a “huge worry” for Rangers ahead of Sunday’s clash with Celtic.

The former Gers defender and Rangers TV pundit, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted Sunday’s meeting at Ibrox is the “biggest” derby days he can remember.

In pictures relayed by Sky Sports (31 March), Morelos, 25, was using crutches at Glasgow Airport on Thursday after returning from international duty with a thigh injury.

The striker missed his country’s final game against Bolivia to return to Glasgow after picking up the problem in training.

Hutton hailed Colombia for sending Morelos back but admitted everyone at Ibrox will be sweating over his availability.

Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I think it’ll be a huge worry. It’s there for all to see, his impact since the manager’s come in.

“His form’s definitely turned round. Hopefully, it’s just a precaution that he was left out (for Colombia). Colombia have done the right thing to send him back, where he can get the physio and treatment needed.

“The Celtic game coming up is probably one of the biggest I can remember. This could define the season moving forward.

“Of course it’s a worry, it’s a scare. I’m just hoping that they’ve got him back in time so they can actually do the treatment he needs and give them that little bit of rest. Any chance, I think he will obviously give it a go.

“But of course, it is a worry when any player comes back from international duty early.”

Morelos has scored 19 goals in 42 appearances for Rangers this season.

The Light Blues are three points behind table-toppers Celtic heading into Sunday’s game.
