Rangers TV pundit issues ‘huge’ prediction after what he’s heard at Ibrox
Alan Hutton has insisted Rangers supporters have a “huge part to play” in tonight’s Europa League clash with Borussia Dortmund.
The former Gers defender and Rangers TV pundit, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted the Light Blues cannot afford to sit back and try to defend their two-goal aggregate lead in the second leg.
Only 500 of the Ibrox faithful were in the away end at the Westfalenstadion last Thursday to watch their side win 4-2.
The capacity was capped at 10,000 due to Covid restrictions in Germany.
However, Dortmund will face the cauldron of a sold-out Ibrox tonight (24 February).
Hutton insisted the Light Blues need to go at Dortmund again or risk being “hurt” by the Germans’ “firepower”.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “They’ll have a huge part to play. I mean, I think they even did in the away leg.
“You could hear them singing in Germany so to have 50,000, it will be some atmosphere. This was always the plan, I think, to try and get something over there.
“It was an outstanding performance and a great result. Was that in the minds of many people? Probably not. It was just to stay in the tie.
“So to have a two-goal lead, I think the one thing that the fans will know is they can’t sit back on that. If you do, Dortmund have got enough firepower to hurt you.
“To have the fans behind you, roaring you on, I think is only going to spur every single Rangers player on to go forward.
“Not just sit back and try and hold onto that lead, to actually move forward and get something out this game. They’ll need to because Dortmund will be up for this.”

Victory would see Rangers head into the Europa League round of 16.
Slavia Prague knocked the Gers out at that stage last season.
In other news, pundit claims Rangers’ worst Aaron Ramsey fears have come true.
