Rangers TV pundit issues ‘very exciting’ Rabbi Matondo claim after confirmed news
Alan Hutton has suggested Rabbi Matondo could be “a good thing” for Rangers next season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Gers right-back said the Welsh international can help to “lighten the load” for Ryan Kent.
On Tuesday (12 July), Rangers confirmed the signing of the 21-year-old from Schalke 04.
The winger put pen to paper on a four year deal with the Ibrox club.
Hutton claimed the move will be beneficial for the club and the player.
“I’ve seen a bit of him, through clips, I think he’s one of those players who’s very exciting,” he told Football Insider.
“He gets fans off their seats, he’s direct. He can play in that kind of Ryan Kent position.
“I think there was a lot of pressure on Kent to perform week in week out last season and if he didn’t then it was like he’d dropped off in form. So I did feel for him, he’s asked to do a massive amount of work.
“So to bring somebody in in that kind of same position to lighten the load for him, it could be a good thing.

“For one so young he’s already commanded a lot of money in fees and he’s had a lot of loans. So to go somewhere and try and be settled and mature into a team, I think Rangers could be a good platform for him to do that.
“His speed, his acceleration is there for all to see. He’s very direct, something that Rangers throughout the years have always liked to have, a player with that profile. So I think someone like that coming in could definitely benefit the team, especially when you’re going to try and get into the Champions League as well.“
In other news, according to sources, Rangers star Josh McPake set to complete move this week amid five-club race.
