Rangers TV pundit makes ‘100%’ Aaron Ramsey fitness claim before Celtic showdown

Alan Hutton has tipped Aaron Ramsey to be “100 per cent” fit for Rangers ahead of Sunday’s showdown with Celtic.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender and Rangers TV pundit suggested the 31-year-old would return to Ibrox “fresh” after playing for Wales over the international break.

As confirmed by Wales’ interim manager Rob Page to Sky Sports on Monday (28 March), Ramsey and Gareth Bale will be left out the starting XI for tonight’s game with the Czech Republic.

Page stated the duo were “feeling their groins and hamstrings” after playing 95 minutes against Poland last Thursday.

However, Hutton suggested Ramsey would be fit and up to speed ahead of Celtic’s visit to Ibrox.

Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “When you’ve been out for a long time, that first 90 minutes you play, you’re going to have muscle aches, muscle pain. That’s just normal.

“It kind of comes with the territory. This is a precautionary action, you don’t have to play him in this game. It’s a friendly, they’ve done the hard yards to make the final.

“He can now rest, he does not have to be pushed in this game. I think Rangers and Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be happy he’s not starting this game because he should come back fresh.

“He has got the minutes in his legs he needs. He has been playing for Rangers as well. Another key part for Rangers moving forward. I think his experience and his know-how in big games can be key.

“Van Bronckhorst needs him in these upcoming games. I think it suits everybody that he can just relax. He can get his body back to how he likes it with a view to the Celtic game.

“The manager has got some big decisions to make. It is a huge game, but I think he will be 100 per cent fit for it.”
