Rangers TV pundit makes ‘scary’ claim after what he’s heard from Auchenhowie

Alan Hutton has suggested Giovanni van Bronckhorst will relish the chance to focus on implementing his tactics at Rangers during the early winter break.

The former Gers defender and Rangers TV pundit, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted the prospect of the Light Blues coming back better drilled in the new year is a “scary thought”.

Speaking to Rangers TV on Sunday (26 December), Van Bronckhorst revealed he would use the break between fixtures to get his “message” of how he wants to play across on the training ground.

Rangers

He suggested the time off could help Rangers “become better and to improve our game”.

Hutton admitted the manager has not had time to nail down his tactical demands at Auchenhowie.

Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “They’ll hopefully just look after themselves for the next week or so.

“They’re back in on January 5th, then they’ve got a couple of weeks to really prepare for that Aberdeen game.

“Out of the whole situation, the chance to work on tactics will be the biggest positive Van Bronckhorst takes. He hasn’t had a lot of time to work on his tactics and the other side of it.

“It’s always been game after game after game. We have seen the little tweaks he has been able to make. The players have really taken to it. We can see that.

“But having a block of time, two weeks where he can work with the players, that’s probably what he’s most looking forward to.

“I understand what he’s saying. He feels that he can get them to be an even better team out the back of this winter break. That’s a scary thought.”

Rangers

Rangers have won seven league games in a row since Van Bronckhorst’s arrival.

They sit six points clear at the top of the Premiership table.
