Rangers TV pundit makes ‘unbelievable’ Celtic claim amid Reo Hatate fear

Alan Hutton has admitted Celtic have shown “unbelievable” progression ahead of Sunday’s visit to Rangers.

The former Gers defender and Rangers TV pundit, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, hailed the impact of the likes of Reo Hatate and Georgios Giakoumakis since their arrivals at Parkhead.

Hatate, 24, scored twice in the last meeting between Rangers and Celtic, which saw the Hoops run out 3-0 winners.

The Light Blues sit three points behind their Glasgow rivals in the hunt for the Premiership title.

Hutton hailed the Bhoys’ impressive rise and singled out five players he is most worried about ahead of Sunday.

Asked who or what he fears the most heading into Sunday’s game, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I think what Ange Postecoglou has done is make a really strong squad, a really strong unit.

“They play the same way, they’re very aggressive. We saw that in the last Old Firm game. You look at the likes of Giakoumakis, who’s hitting top form, scoring goals and leading the line well.

“Then you’ve got the players round about him: Maeda, Jota, these kind of guys. Hatate when he’s on form in midfield, McGregor, they’re full of talent.

“The progression has been unbelievable from the start of the season to where they sit at this moment in time. I think they’ve got a lot of dangerous players in their squad.

“They can hurt you, they can hurt anybody on their day. But Rangers also need to remember that they’re a top team as well with a lot of quality.

“We’ve seen some of the performances, especially in the European campaign. If they can reach that level come Sunday, I think Rangers will be okay.”
