Rangers victims of major injustice as Alfredo Morelos footage analysed – Hutton
Alan Hutton has claimed Motherwell’s Bevis Mugabi could have been sent off against Rangers on Sunday (16 October).
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers right-back said the VAR official would have looked at Mugabi’s potential hand ball and given a foul.
As shown on BBC Sport (18 October), Mugabi’s arm gets in the way of a pass to Alfredo Morelos who is through on goal.
Referee David Dickinson did not punish the Motherwell defender and Rangers went on to win the game 2-1.
On Wednesday (12 October), the SPFL released a statement confirming that VAR will be introduced in Scotland this month.
The technology was initially supposed to come in to play after the World Cup but VAR is ready to be introduced ahead of schedule.
VAR will be in play for the Light Blues’ game against Livingston on Saturday (22 October).
Hutton suggested the officials will be looking to punish similar incidents.
“I think especially when VAR comes in it will be brand new,” he told Football Insider.
“I do not mean that they will be searching for incidents to use it but that will be flagged up.

“You are looking at a goalscoring opportunity. You see the way it is in the Premier League. If your arm is outwith your body and you stop a goalscoring opportunity, then it is going to be looked at.
“I think that would be looked at and given as a foul and then obviously he [Mugabi] would be in trouble.“
