Bojan Miovski's improved form has seen Rangers shelve plans to sign a new striker in January, sources have told Football Insider.

Miovski's Rangers future was up in the air over the summer after he slipped down their striker pecking order following Derek McInnes' appointment.

The 27-year-old was keen to leave Ibrox ahead of the new season but has found a way into McInnes' plans over the last few weeks.

Serious injuries to Youssef Chermiti and Lawrence Shankland have seen him become a genuine attacking option for the Gers.

He is set to stay for the rest of the campaign, and as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Rangers will not enter the market for a new striker as a result of his return to form.

Miovski scored a late winner in their Premiership clash against St Mirren last month and is set to play his part in McInnes' squad alongside Kevin Kelsy and Ryan Naderi.

Rangers not set for striker signing after Bojan Miovski return

Rangers have been linked with a move for Plymouth Argyle striker Aribim Pepple ahead of January, but will not look to sign him until next summer at least.

Miovski has shown that he can have a real impact for the Gers this season, hence why they do not feel the need to enter the market for another forward midway through the campaign.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Rangers have got Miovski back in the squad, who's playing a backup role to Kelsy and Naderi, so they're pretty well stocked. Once Shankland is back to fitness as well, that'll only boost the numbers up front, so I don't think a new striker will be a priority for Rangers in the January window.

"That interest in Pepple is not required right now because they are well stocked in attack, especially after that big-money signing of Kelsy."

Lewis Ferguson to Rangers takes new twist after public comments

Rangers' plans are in motion for the January window, with Bologna midfielder Ferguson still on their radar.

The Scottish international midfielder recently admitted that he is keen to represent his boyhood club at some point in his career, but a move to Ibrox was not close over the summer despite certain reports.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Bologna have no plans to let Ferguson leave in January, as he remains key to their side in Serie A.

The 27-year-old is also happy in Italy and is more likely to be sold next summer with less than a year left on his Bologna contract.
