Lewis Ferguson is keen to stay at Bologna for the whole season despite ongoing rumours of a move to Rangers, sources have told Football Insider.

The Scottish international was closely linked to Rangers over the summer as Derek McInnes looked to put his own stamp on their squad.

Ferguson, 27, is a boyhood Gers fan, but recently admitted that he never felt a move was close ahead of this season.

He remains on McInnes' radar, however, as Rangers plan another move to sign him in 2027.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, a January move is unlikely as Ferguson is content at Bologna and has no imminent plans to leave.

Rangers may stand a chance of coaxing him to Ibrox next summer, with his contract currently set to expire in 2028.

Lewis Ferguson is happy to stay at Bologna despite Rangers links

Ferguson has publicly refused to rule out realising his boyhood dream and joining Rangers at some point in his career.

It looks as if Gers supporters will have to wait for another season at least to see it happen, as he is still a key player for Bologna and has no desire to pursue another challenge.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Lewis Ferguson's doing really well for Bologna. He's club captain and he's playing every game as well, so that shows how highly rated he is by the Italian club. I think Ferguson's happy with life in Italy, so he's not in any rush to leave them.

"I think it's one that will just always be on the agenda because of his links with Rangers, but the player is happy with Bologna and Bologna are very happy with him.

Nicolas Raskin 'happy' to stay at Rangers in new twist

Nicolas Raskin has had a change of heart regarding Rangers exit

Gers midfielder Raskin was linked away from the club in the summer, but he stayed at Ibrox despite Premier League and Saudi Pro League interest.

The Belgian international was widely believed to have an informal agreement with Rangers' board to be allowed to leave in January if the right offer arrives.

Sources have now exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Raskin is keen to stay at Rangers for the remainder of the campaign as they chase Premiership success.

The stars may then align for him to leave the club next summer as Rangers renew their interest in Ferguson as his replacement.
