Rangers want to keep Minsu Kim but are bracing for interest in his services from clubs in top European leagues, sources have told Football Insider.

Kim has emerged as an instant star of the Rangers team under Derek McInnes since his summer arrival from Girona.

The 20-year-old winger cost Rangers £8.5million and is quickly proving his worth with key performances in their quest for Premiership success.

His strong early-season form has led to rumours around a potential immediate exit in the January window.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Rangers have no plans to let Kim leave, but he could be the subject of serious interest from clubs in bigger leagues in the new year.

The South Korean international is still searching for his first goal contribution as a Gers player, but remains a regular starter, such is the impression he has made on McInnes.

Minsu Kim unlikely to leave Rangers despite January interest

Kim earned a move to Rangers off the back of a strong loan spell in La Liga2 with FC Andorra, where he registered 10 goal contributions in 40 appearances.

He is going from strength to strength at Ibrox and looks set to spearhead the Gers' title charge this season despite clubs potentially looking at his availability in January.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "I don't think they’re prepared to let him go, not just yet. He has just arrived at the club and is having a good impact. Rangers will be delighted with him and what he's done so far up in Glasgow as well.

"They won't be considering losing Minsu Kim any time soon, but when you do impress and can attract interest, it's going to be this situation where maybe some Rangers players will get offers from other bigger clubs in bigger leagues, and then it might be hard to keep hold of them."

Rangers send scouts to watch League One starlet ahead of next window

McInnes and his staff are already looking ahead to January, where he could bolster his squad to aid their Premiership title challenge.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Gers' scouts watched Doncaster Rovers youngster Bayley McCann in their League One clash against Stockport County in midweek.

20-year-old McCann, who plays under his father Grant at Doncaster, has two assists in seven English third-tier appearances this season, and is a regular for Northern Ireland at under-21 level.
