Sources: Rangers send scouts to watch Bayley McCann in League One clash
Rangers have sent scouts to watch Doncaster Rovers and Northern Ireland under-21 international Bayley McCann, sources have told Football Insider.
The Gers' scouting team cast their eyes over McCann in Rovers' League One clash against Stockport County on Tuesday evening.
He made the first start of his career in the English third tier at the Club Doncaster Sports Village as they lost 2-0 in midweek.
McCann linked up with his father and current Rovers manager, Grant, in January as he signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the League One club.
McCann featured twice in the second half of last season and has registered two assists from left wing-back in eight appearances so far in this campaign.
Derek McInnes could push Rangers to make a move for the 20-year-old soon, provided that he has left a strong impression on their scouts.
Bayley McCann on Rangers' radar after Doncaster Rovers breakthrough
McCann began his career with Peterborough United before joining Barnsley’s academy in 2023.
After signing his first professional contract in 2024, he gained senior experience with loan spells at Peterborough Sports and Alfreton Town.
He joined Rovers midway through the 2025-26 season and made two third-tier appearances before returning to seventh-tier Alfreton on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
The 20-year-old made his Northern Ireland U21 debut in March 2025 and has five caps to his name so far, with his first goal for his country at youth level coming against Malta last month.
He has featured at left wing-back and right wing-back under his father for Rovers this season, while also playing in central midfield for his country too.
Tochi Chukwuani could leave Rangers in January
Rangers are looking ahead to the next window in terms of incomings, while Chukwuani may be among the outgoings as McInnes chases Premiership glory.
The Danish midfielder has only made four league appearances so far this season, with his last start coming in their Conference League defeat to Jablonec in late August.
Sources have now exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Chukwuani is ready to consider his future at Rangers as he struggles for regular minutes at Ibrox.
He could leave in January unless McInnes offers him more minutes in the coming weeks and months.
