Sources: Rangers in hunt to sign Oguz Aydin after confirmed news
Rangers are plotting a move to sign Fenerbahce winger Oguz Aydin to strengthen their wide options, sources at the club have told Football Insider.
The 25-year-old has emerged as a leading target for the Ibrox club as they accelerate their transfer plans following what has been a disappointing start to the new season.
Having already completed the signing of Daisuke Yokota from Hannover this week, Derek McInnes is hopeful of adding at least one new winger to his squad before deadline day.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Aydin is firmly on Rangers' radar and they are prepared to join the race for his signature.
The Turkey international, who can play on both wings, could become available after playing a bit-part role for Fenerbahce as they finished second in the Super Lig last season.
Rangers are among a number of clubs who have been placed on alert by Aydin's potential availability, and with McInnes determined to strengthen his squad, they could make a move.
Could Rangers make a move to sign Oguz Aydin?
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in June that McIness would be given funds to improve his squad in key positions, with a winger among his targets.
Aydin has now emerged as a leading target in that position, with a clear lack of depth at Ibrox prompting McInnes to speak publicly about his desire to strengthen.
The Turkey international is the latest of a number of wingers to be linked with a move to Ibrox, and there is a growing feeling that a move could now be on the cards.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Obviously wingers are a key priority for Rangers. They're happy that they got the deal done for Yokata from Hanover.
"That's one more winger in the building, but they've seen Mikey Moore's loan deal end and sold Oliver Antman to Anderlecht earlier this summer.
"Derek McInnes has been quite honest that Rangers are looking to bring in a right winger and potentially a left-winger as well, and Aydin is the latest to be linked with them.
"They're obviously keen to bring in Aydin to add to their squad before the close of the window, Derek McInnes is keen to add to his attacking options.
"Aydin is one of several wingers that Rangers are looking at, and it's one that they're actively exploring to see if a deal can be done for the 25 year old."
Which other wingers are on Rangers' radar?
Aydin is far from the only winger on Rangers' radar in the final month of the transfer window, as they accelerate their plans to add to the squad in the coming weeks.
McInnes' confession that he wants to add more depth and quality to his squad has led to speculation surrounding a number of additions who could arrive at Ibrox.
Football Insider revealed on 5 August that Rangers have joined Celtic in the race to sign Forsinone winger Fares Ghedjemis, although the Hoops are currently ahead in the race.
The pair of Old Firm rivals are currently battling it out to sign the Algeria international, but it is understood that Rangers are lagging behind in their pursuit.
This comes as Celtic have had their eyes on the 23-year-old throughout the last 12 months, and recently saw an offer for him rejected by Frosinone.
