Celtic have perfect opportunity to complete Fares Ghedjemis deal after Rangers latest
Celtic will surely now go all out to seal the signing of Fares Ghedjemis from Frosinone after Rangers’ bid for Couhaib Driouech.
Reports emerged on Wednesday that the Gers have turned their attention to the PSV Eindhoven winger and have seen a bid rejected.
It has become clear in recent weeks that Derek McInnes wants to upgrade his options out wide, with the 24-year-old becoming his latest target.
However, this interest now opens up an opportunity for Celtic to complete a move for Ghedjemis.
Both Old Firm clubs have seen bids rejected for the 23-year-old in recent weeks, with the Hoops being long-term admirers.
Now, with Rangers potentially moving onto other targets out wide, Martin O’Neill’s side have their best chance to complete a deal.
Rangers’ interest in Couhaib Driouech is perfect time for Celtic to pounce for Fares Ghedjemis
It is obvious that Celtic and O’Neill want to bring in Ghedjemis this summer.
The club were chasing the Algerian international in the winter window, but were unable to get a deal over the line.
However, Record Sports’ record on Rangers’ bid for Driouech now opens up an opportunity.
The Gers are clearly exploring other targets out wide after their bid for Ghedjemis was rejected.
As a result, while Rangers are dealing with talks with PSV, Celtic could simply swoop in and capture the Frosinone winger.
This is perhaps the Hoops’ best opportunity to complete the signing, as the later it gets in the window, the Italian side will be less willing to negotiate.
On top of this, if Rangers’ pursuit of Driouech ends in failure, then the club could turn their attention back to Ghedjemis.
Who else are Celtic chasing this summer?
Recent reports have linked Gvidas Gineitis with a move to Celtic this summer.
The Torino midfielder is valued at around £12million this transfer window, with the Hoops’ qualification to the Champions League’s league stage potentially critical to paying this fee.
Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Gineitis is keen on a move to Celtic this summer.
However, it remains to be seen who the Old Firm club will look to bring through the door in the coming weeks as the transfer window begins to heat up.
