Rangers could be about to pull off impressive Kosta Nedeljkovic deal
Rangers will pull off a brilliant deal if they can sign Aston Villa starlet Kosta Nedeljkovic in the final weeks of the transfer window.
The 20-year-old right-back is one of numerous options the Gers are exploring as they look to reinforce their full-back position.
Derek McInnes has gone public in recent days about the need to sign more players after numerous injuries hit the squad this month.
Now, they have turned their attention to the Serbia international, who was on loan at RB Leipzig last season.
Despite his age, Nedeljkovic has received praise from a number of top figures in football, including current RB Leipzig’s managing director of sport Marcel Schafer.
The former German international was quick to highlight the defender’s mentality and speed when discussing Nedeljkovic’s traits.
Marcel Schafer: Kosta Nedeljkovic brings speed and attacking intent
From February 2025 until the end of the 2025-26 campaign, Nedeljkovic was on loan to RB Leipzig.
Here, the defender was mainly a squad player and made just 17 appearances through his season-and-a-half at the club.
Upon signing for one of Germany’s top clubs back in February 2025, Schafer was quick to praise the right-back for his numerous positive traits.
He told RB Live on 3 February 2025: "We wanted to add more depth to the squad for the coming months and make ourselves more versatile.
“Nedeljkovic is the prototype of a full-back who works the right flank with a high work rate, possesses speed, an attacking drive, and a top mentality.
"He is also strong in tackles, good at winning the ball back, and has a pronounced understanding of the game. Kosta has a lot of potential, and with us he will get the opportunity to develop it."
Therefore, based on this information, Rangers have to prioritise bringing in Nedeljkovic this summer.
The full-back can provide plenty of attacking quality, and his positive mentality is something that McInnes should be looking to get into the Rangers dressing room.
Hopefully, Sky Sports’ report is correct, and the Gers can close in on the transfer as soon as possible.
What other business could Rangers complete this summer?
Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Rangers’ young goalkeeper Mason Munn is a target for several clubs in England and Scotland this summer.
The 20-year-old shot-stopper is seen as one of the club’s best upcoming talents, and has plenty of potential suitors this summer.
Last season, he was loaned out to both Dunfermline and Forfar, and could now be set for another temporary move away before the transfer window slams shut.
Munn has been told he will be allowed to leave Rangers for another stint elsewhere, with his parent club potentially set to have their pick of several clubs.
However, it remains to be seen if a deal can be agreed in the final weeks of the transfer window.
