Rangers have a massive summer transfer window on their horizon, with a squad rebuild clearly required at Ibrox.

One player who has been linked in recent months is Joe Gelhardt, who has shone on loan at Hull City.

The Gers are desperate for a goal scorer in their team, with the likes of Bojan Miovski and Youssef Chermiti not performing consistently.

There is a hope that Rangers would be able to bring in the Leeds United star due to their links with the 49ers enterprises.

However, if Hull City win promotion to the Premier League, Rangers’ transfer plans could be ruined.

Joe Gelhardt could pick Hull City over Rangers

While a transfer between Rangers and Leeds is unlikely to be an issue, getting the player to agree to such a move is the clear stumbling block.

Gelhardt has shone on loan to Hull City and has picked up 19 goal contributions in the Championship this season.

As a result, if the Tigers win the playoff final, he is likely to want to make his stay a permanent one and continue his form in the Premier League.

Therefore, Rangers will be praying Hull City miss out on a return to the Premier League to boost their chances of sealing Gelhardt’s signature this summer.

If not, the Gers will have to move on to other targets as they look to finally end their woes up top.

As it stands, Hull City will face Southampton in the playoff final, but the Saints could soon be kicked out of the competition due to the ongoing Spygate investigation.

Who else could Rangers sign instead?

Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Rangers are chasing Lorent Tolaj ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Plymouth Argyle striker was excellent in League One this season and netted 18 times and picked up eight assists in 33 matches.

The third-tier side are set to demand £5million for his signature, with interest heating up for the 24-year-old.

Alongside Rangers, Celtic are also showing interest, as well as multiple Championship sides.

Therefore, while Tolaj remains on the Gers’ shortlist, it remains to be seen if he will be playing at Ibrox for the 2026-27 campaign.
