Raphinha deal ‘like a new signing’ for Leeds – expert
Tying Raphinha down to a new long-term contract would be “like a new signing” for Leeds United, according to Alan Hutton.
The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted other clubs would be eyeing a potential transfer raid for the 25-year-old after his “standout” performances at Elland Road.
The Yorkshire Evening Post (26 December) report talks are ongoing over a new and improved contract.

His current terms expire in the summer of 2024 but Leeds are reportedly keen to reward him for his form.
Talk of a new contract comes amid reported interest from Bayern Munich and Chelsea in recent days.
Football Insider revealed earlier this year (6 February) Liverpool are also among those in the hunt for the Brazilian.
With interest building in their attacking talisman, Hutton insisted Leeds would do well to tie him down to new terms.
“He’s been the shining light for them through some difficult periods this season,” Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“If they can tie him down a long contract, we know with his recent performances he’s been a standout. There will be teams looking at him.
“If they can tie him down, it will be like a new signing.”
Raphinha joined Leeds from Ligue 1 side Rennes for a reported £17million last summer.
He has dazzled under Marcelo Bielsa, with 14 goals and 10 assists in 47 appearances.

His performances earned him a call-up to the Brazil squad earlier this year.
He has scored twice in his five appearances for his national side so far.
