Raphinha: Major update on Aston Villa submitting ‘big offer’ – sources

Barcelona will have to consider “big offers” for reported Aston Villa target Raphinha, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the financial situation at the Catalan club means Villa could pull off the “very ambitious” capture of the 27-year-old.

Raphinha has been widely linked with a potential move to Aston Villa this summer after the club’s return to the Champions League.

The Midlands giants are also yet to sign a like-for-like replacement for Moussa Diaby, who joined Saudi side Al-Ittihad earlier this summer.

Sources say a move for Raphinha would be “very ambitious” and a “real signal of intent” on deadline day.

However, it is believed Barcelona would have to consider big offers for the ex-Leeds star even at this late stage.

Raphinha has played every minute in La Liga for Barca this season, notching two assists in three games.

He scored 10 goals and notched 13 assists across 37 appearances in all competitions last season.

The winger is under contract until June 2027 after joining Barcelona from Leeds two years ago.
