Raphinha: Pundit suggests ulterior motive behind ‘crazy’ Leeds United decision
Kevin Campbell has slammed Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa for his treatment of Raphinha.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker said “something is going on” if a manager cannot get his best player into the starting XI.
Raphinha dropped to the bench for Leeds’ 4-2 loss against Man United on Sunday.
As quoted by Leeds Live (20 February), Bielsa revealed the winger was not injured and was instead benched for tactical reasons.
The Brazil international’s game time has diminished since West Ham failed in an attempt to sign him last month.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the latest, Campbell said: “Bielsa is going to do what he wants to do.
“Raphinha is Leeds’ best player and if you cannot get your best player in the team something is going on. That is my concern.
“Raphinha will not be at Leeds next season, of that I’m sure. I know Leeds fans will not be happy that I’ve said that but I cannot see Raphinha staying.
“If he is your best player, why is he no starting? He has got to start. Adjust the team tactically somewhere else. Don’t sacrifice your best player. That’s crazy.

“He came on and made a difference straight away. That says it all.
“I just think there is more to it than just tactical reasons. In my opinion, he won’t be there next season. I think they are going to cash in.”
