‘Raskin to take Rangers captaincy from Tavernier’ – Fans react to shock twist
Nicolas Raskin is being tipped to permanently replace James Tavernier as Rangers captain by fans of the club after his performance in their Old Firm thumping of Celtic.
The ‘Gers enjoyed an excellent afternoon against their closest rivals on Thursday, claiming a deserved as well as surprising 3-0 win over Brendan Rodgers’ side to ease the growing pressure on Philippe Clement.
There was a string of all-round strong performances from the hosts, something made all the more impressive by the number of changes they had been forced into for the match.
Now one of those alterations has seen Rangers fans call for a more permanent switch when it comes to one key role at Ibrox.
Nicolas Raskin tipped to keep Rangers captaincy after display vs Celtic
One of those Clement was unable to call upon was James Tavernier, with the club captain missing the game due to injury.

In his absence it was Raskin who wore the armband for Rangers against Celtic, with the 23-year-old impressing in that role.
The midfield produced an all-action performance in the centre of the park that helped his side dominate proceedings.
He also picked up a booking on the stroke of half-time while attempting to get under the skin of his opposition counterpart Callum McGregor.
All of that left plenty of Rangers fans tipping Raskin to take over the captaincy role on a longer-term basis even after Tavernier returns from injury thanks to his “unreal” form, as they took to social media to reflect on the win.
One fan claimed the right-back “could do without the grief” while it makes Raskin “grow a few feet taller”, while another suggested there would be a “riot” if the armband was taken back of him.
