‘Aaron Ramsdale warned off Rangers switch amid West Ham interest’
Ray Parlour has weighed in on the interest in Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale from Scottish Premiership giants Rangers.
The former Arsenal goalkeeper maintained just three clean sheets in 30 Premier League appearances for the Saints last term as they were relegated back to the Championship.
But he previously impressed when he served as the Gunners’ first-choice shot-stopper during both the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons.
According to talkSPORT [23 June], Southampton are set to allow Ramsdale to leave on loan this summer amid interest from Rangers.

Parlour urges Ramsdale to stay in the Premier League
A move to Rangers could see the 27-year-old competing in next season’s Champions League as well as helping the Ibrox club close the gap to fierce rivals Celtic.
But speaking live on talkSPORT [24 June], Parlour said: “I think he’s got to stay in the Premier League, so I’ll say no.
“I think he’s got too much to offer. I think he stays in the Premier League.”
Amid the interest from Rangers, Ramsdale has also been linked with West Ham, while the East London club must strengthen after performing poorly in the top flight last term.
Ramsdale should turn down Rangers interest
Football Insider verdict
While it appears certain that Ramsdale will leave Southampton this summer, thanks to the South Coast club’s relegation to the Championship, the England international may not be keen on a move to the Scottish Premiership.

Appearances | 30 |
Saves | 125 |

Before falling below David Raya in the Arsenal pecking order, and consequently joining the Saints last summer, the former Bournemouth man proved himself as a largely talented goalkeeper.
Ramsdale could still boast international aspirations ahead of next summer’s World Cup, and should therefore be keen to stay in the Premier League, as alluded to by Parlour.
Thanks to the gulf in class between the English top flight and the Scottish Premiership, the 27-year-old is unlikely to restore his England credentials north of the border.
Perhaps the ex-Sheffield United man could be an ideal acquisition for Leeds United, who seem eager to find an upgrade on Illan Meslier following their Premier League return.
Meanwhile, Nico Raskin has been tipped to leave Rangers in an Ibrox News exclusive.
