Ray Wilkins delivers Tottenham verdict, names best player on the pitch against Arsenal
By Dominic Toner
Ray Wilkins hailed the Tottenham performance against Arsenal on Sunday and was full of praise for Mousa Dembele.
Spurs recorded a 1-1 away draw against their north London rivals in the Premier League, with Harry Kane’s second-half penalty cancelling out an own goal from team-mate Kevin Wimmer.
The result means that Mauricio Pochettino’s side are still the only unbeaten team in the division and they are currently fifth-placed, five points adrift of league leaders Liverpool.
Sky Sports pundit Wilkins has highlighted the performance of Spurs’ midfielder Dembele against the Gunners as he ranked the team’s display as an A grade.
“I thought Tottenham were equally as good (as Arsenal),” Wilkins wrote on Sky Sports. “They had a couple of setbacks obviously with Dele Alli, while Toby Alderweireld was not there. Harry Kane coming back looked a little bit off the pace, but I will give them an ‘A’ as they played some wonderful football, with Mousa Dembele the best player on the pitch.”
Dembele delivered a powerful display against Arsenal at the weekend as he bossed the physical battles in midfield.
The 29-year-old was fouled for the penalty they scored after a weaving through the heart of the Gunners defence.
