RB Leipzig are plotting to beat Arsenal and Tottenham to the January signing of Dominik Szoboszlai by signing him and loaning back to RB Salzburg for the rest of the season, Football Insider can reveal.

As previously revealed by this site, the Gunners have made multiple bids to sign the in-demand 20-year-old and held talks with his camp in recent transfer windows.

A recruitment source has now told Football Insider that Tottenham are also in hot pursuit of Szoboszlai.

But Leipzig are working to steal a march over their rivals in the race to lure the Hungary international in the winter transfer window.

The German club's plan is to agree a deal with Salzburg in January and allow the youngster to remain in Austria until next summer.

The versatile midfielder has caught the eye of top sides all across Europe after his impressive attacking returns this season.

Szoboszlai, who has been operating in a left-sided midfield role, has netted five times and supplied nine assists from 14 appearances in all competitions this season.

This comes after his stellar 2019-20 campaign yielded 12 goals and 18 assists from 40 appearances.

Critically, he has already impressed in the Champions League and has scored twice in three matches in the competition this season.

As well as the London giants and Leipzig, Premier League sides Wolves and Leicester City have been credited with an interest in the Hungarian ace, while AC Milan are also are among his suitors on the continent.

Szoboszlai made his international debut as an 18-year-old back in March 2019 against Slovakia and has 12 appearances already for his country.
