Reece James responds to Wesley Fofana’s cryptic message after Chelsea development

Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana shared a mysterious message to supporters in an update on social media.

Chelsea players are now back in training following an extended break after their Club World Cup triumph over PSG earlier this summer.

Enzo Maresca may have faced his share of criticism during the campaign, but he still managed to guide Chelsea to a top-four Premier League finish and a European trophy, lifting the UEFA Conference League.

However, one player who played little part in that success was Wesley Fofana.

The French defender missed the majority of the season due to recurring injury setbacks and required surgery, which kept him sidelined for 36 matches across all competitions.

As reported by Football Insider, Chelsea are open to offers for Fofana this summer as they look to raise funds and reshape the squad, especially given his lack of game time since arriving at Stamford Bridge.

Now, the centre-back has posted a cryptic update on social media, which caught the attention of several teammates who were quick to respond.

Wesley Fofana confirms Chelsea training return amid transfer uncertainty

After a lengthy recovery from surgery this summer, Fofana has confirmed that he’s returned to training at Chelsea in his latest post on social media.

The former Leicester City defender shared several photos of himself taking part in the session, accompanied by a cryptic caption that read: “They like to talk too much…”

The message drew support from his teammates, with Reece James, Marc Cucurella and Christopher Nkunku all liking the post.

However, despite the signs of camaraderie in the squad, Fofana’s future at Stamford Bridge remains far from certain.

Injuries have plagued the £75 million signing, and frustrations have continued to grow among supporters, with many Chelsea fans now calling for the club to move Fofana on.

Since making the move in 2022, the defender has only featured for Chelsea 34 times and the club are willing to cut their losses on him.

With Nkunku showing support to his fellow teammate, he could also leave the club this summer.

Football Insider revealed that Nkunku is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, with Maresca not viewing him as a long-term part of his project.

Manchester United have been previously linked with a move for Nkunku, but they’ve since completed deals for Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo and are now deep in talks for Benjamin Sesko—casting doubt over any move for Nkunku.

Chelsea are understood to be keen to offload the attacker, but so far no concrete offers have materialised.
