Reece James sends cryptic message to Chelsea fans ahead of Liverpool clash

Chelsea captain Reece James has taken to social media to post a cryptic message to fans ahead of their pivotal Premier League game with Liverpool on Sunday (October 20).

The 24-year-old has been out of action once again after picking up a hamstring injury that has seen him miss out on all of Chelsea’s opening 11 games.

James has been plagued with various injuries for the past two seasons, missing 74 games since the start of the 2022-23 campaign.

The right-back finally returned to first-team training this week and could be set to make his first appearance under new manager Enzo Maresca in their pivotal clash with league leaders Liverpool.

Reece James set for Chelsea return

Chelsea have started the season well without James, sitting in fourth with four wins, two draws, and one defeat from their opening seven Premier League games.

Understudy Malo Gusto has stepped in admirably during James’ absence, offering an attacking threat with an impressive long-ball accuracy rate of 70 per cent.

James will expect to walk back into the first team once he’s fit and ready, taking to Instagram to let fans know it’s only a matter of time until he’s back.

Chelsea face a challenging run of Premier League fixtures, starting with Liverpool, followed by Newcastle, a trip to Man United, and then a home clash against title contenders Arsenal.

Maresca will need all hands on deck and James’ return could be a key moment in the race for Champions League qualification.
