Reece James’ stats are incredible – Chelsea three winners from draw vs Arsenal

Enzo Maresca will come away delighted with the performance of three players despite not being able to beat Arsenal.

Chelsea beat Barcelona 3-0 in midweek in the Champions League, so confidence was high coming into the game that they could topple the league leaders.

Moises Caicedo though was shown a red card in the first half, and Chelsea had to battle hard to grind out a point.

Trevoh Chalobah

Trevoh Chalobah headed home a shock Chelsea opener early in the second half, a goal which lifted the home crowd.

Chalobah has reignited his Chelsea career, and he was superb defensively here, keeping Mikel Merino quiet until the Spaniard got in-between Malo Gusto and Wesley to net an equaliser.

The centre-back was strong in his duels and also made six clearances to deny Arsenal from scoring a winning goal.

Reece James

The Chelsea captain looks comfortable in his midfield role and led his team well with 10 men against the league leaders.

James was everywhere on the pitch, and also won all of his ground duels and five of his six aerial duels.

The 25-year-old has the energy to be a box-to-box midfielder, and he grabbed the assist for Chalobah’s header with a perfect corner kick.

Robert Sanchez

The Chelsea shot stopper was a safe pair of hands in-between the sticks against the Gunners, making a couple of smart stops.

Robert Sanchez, who could be replaced as Chelsea’s number one in an upcoming transfer window, got down low to keep out Bukayo Saka in the first half, and made another fine save late in the second period to deny Merino.

The Spaniard was then brave to get to the loose ball with Viktor Gyokeres charging in to try and net a late goal.
