Reliable journalist delivers update on Leeds manager search, reveals no approach for 53-year-old

Leeds have not approached Nigel Pearson for their vacant managerial search, according to a reliable journalist.

Yorkshire Evening Post chief writer Phil Hay has revealed on his personal Twitter account that the Whites have not moved to bring in Pearson.

The Yorkshire club are still on the lookout for a new boss and have not yet got close to replacing Garry Monk following his resignation on Tuesday.

Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani is being patient on his search for a new boss and wants the next senior man at Elland Road to help the club get back into the Premier League.

Sky Bet currently have Fernando Hierro (2/1) as the favourite to be the next manager, while Victor Sanchez (3/1), Alan Pardew (5/1) and Quipue Sanchez Flores (6/1) are considered the next most likely.

Pearson is priced alongside Reading boss Jaap Star and Leeds coach Pep Clotet at 12/1 to replace Monk.

Pearson is a proven manager in the Championship and helped Leicester achieve promotion as title winners in the 2013/14 season.

He is renowned for a no-nonsense boss and that has helped him put together some successful sides, including the foundations of the Foxes side that won the Premier League.

The Englishman has also racked up experience at the likes Leicester, Derby, Hull and Southampton in the past.
