Reliable journalist: Leeds still looking to make signings, developments expected later in the week
By Harvey Byrne
Leeds are still looking to make new signings to bolster their attack and defensive options this summer, according to a reliable journalist.
Yorkshire Evening Post writer Lee Sobot has claimed on his personal Twitter account that the Whites are casting their eye over a mix of foreign and domestic based players and that developments are expected later in the week with the squad flying back from their tour of Austria on Monday.
Leeds have already made eight signings this summer with Samu Saiz, Mateusz Klich, Caleb Ekuban, Felix Wiedwald and Hadi Sacko all joining from across Europe, while both Vurnon Anita and Matthew Pennington have made the switch from Newcastle and Everton respectively.
But, fans will be keen for the club to add to their squad further as they plan a promotion push and one possible attacking addition could be long-term target Ashley Fletcher after the Sun claimed Leeds had asked West Ham to take him on loan for the campaign.
Football Insider verdict:
A lack of squad depth cost Leeds promotion in the last campaign as an end of season slump saw them miss out on the play-off places by five points after spending the majority of the campaign in the top six. The club have since lost manager Garry Monk and the club have been taken over by Italian businessman Andrea Radrizzani. So far the signs are looking good under Radrizzani with all of the incoming’s, but after losing stars Charlie Taylor and Kyle Bartley they will still need to add to those positions, while taking the scoring pressure off Chris Wood. Therefore, the club should certainly be looking to continue their pre-season business ahead of the pre-season opener against Bolton.
