Reliable journalist delivers update on FA Monk decision after Leeds brawl

Leeds manager Garry Monk will learn whether or not he will land an FA misconduct charge within the next 24 hours, according to a reliable journalist.

Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay revealed on his personal Twitter account on Monday afternoon that the FA were yet to decide whether or not to charge the Leeds boss, following a controversial incident in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield.

Monk was sent to the stands by referee Simon Hooper during the 2-1 defeat to their promotion rivals, after a confrontation with his opposite number David Wagner.

After Michael Hefele netted an 89th-minute winner for the home side, Wagner stormed down the touchline in celebration, but clashed with Leeds boss Monk after entering his technical area.

The two managers grappled with each other, with players and members of the coaching staff on both sides swiftly getting involved in the pushing and shoving.

Wagner was also dismissed by the referee, while three players were issued yellow cards for their roles in the incident.

The two Championship chiefs are expected to land charges from the FA, with both managers having yet to see eye-to-eye following the incident.

Monk has since criticised Wagner for not showing him enough respect, adding that he was unimpressed by his lack of class and humility.

The Huddersfield boss, meanwhile, has since revealed the reasons behind his wild celebration, admitting that he ‘does it in Germany.’
