Reliable journalist provides update on future of Leeds 23-year-old
By Harvey Byrne
Leeds full-back Charlie Taylor has until this weekend to respond to the contract offer from the club, according to a reliable journalist.
The 23-year-old left-back’s future at the Yorkshire giants has been cast into serious doubt after refusing to play for the club on the final day of the last campaign against Wigan.
However, main suitors West Brom have reportedly cooled their interest in recent days, while the Yorkshire giants do still have an offer on the table for their academy product.
But, Yorkshire Evening Post’s chief football writer Phil Hay has told a follower on his personal Twitter account on Friday that Taylor is still expected to depart this summer with a deadline of this weekend to make a decision.
Taylor’s contract at Leeds is set to expire on June 30 after joining the club’s youth system in 2010.
It is believed that the Yorkshire giants have made their contract offer not only to see whether the youngster will sign it, but also in order to receive a fee through a tribunal if he does leave.
Taylor has played in 104 matches for Leeds since making his first team debut aged just 17 in 2011, but it is likely those totals will not be added to under new boss Thomas Christiansen.
In other Leeds transfer news, Darragh MacAnthony has responded to a fan on Twitter asking if the Whites are still interested in one of his players.
