Renato Veiga bids farewell after confirmed Chelsea exit news
Chelsea defender Renato Veiga took to social media to say his goodbyes after flying to Italy for his Juventus medical.
The 21-year-old looks set to complete a six-month loan deal having agreed terms with the Serie A side after failing to break into the first team under Enzo Maresca.
Veiga joined Chelsea from Swiss side Basel in the 2024 summer transfer window for a reported £11.8million fee as an understudy for first-choice left-back Marc Cucurella.
It’s understood the Portugal international grew frustrated playing at left-back, preferring to be used at centre-back instead.
Chelsea believe the move to Italy will provide him with more playing time, aligning with the player’s ambition to remain part of Portugal’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Renato Veiga set to swap Chelsea for Juventus as first-team chances dry up
The defender has had limited opportunities to impress this season, starting 12 of his 18 games across all competitions, scoring two goals, and providing one assist in his 1166 minutes of action.
Veiga took to Instagram to share an image originally posted by the club of him arriving at Juventus’ training facility, with the post captioned: “Welcome, Renato!”

The deal is yet to be confirmed, so it remains unclear when Veiga could make his Juventus debut with Thiago Motta’s side set to play Benfica in the Champions League on Wednesday (January 29).
Chelsea have fallen out of the Champions League qualification spots after their 3-1 defeat to Man City on Saturday (January 25) and will host West Ham on Monday (February 3).
