Report: Bid made for £9m-rated attacker on West Ham radar, club willing to sell

By Danny Wright

Real Betis have lodged a bid for West Ham target Ryad Boudebouz, according to a report.

France Football claims that the La Liga side have put forward an offer worth £6.2million for the 27-year-old Montpellier attacker.

However it is understood that the French side rate Boudebouz as being worth up to £9million, but they will consider selling him this summer.

West Ham aren’t the only team said to have the attacking midfielder on their radar, as Sampdoria, Genoa and Javier Hernandez’s old club Bayer Leverkusen are also reported to be interested in the Montpellier ace.

French news outlet Maxifoot reported in April that Everton were also keen on the 25-times Algeria international.

Boudebouz enjoyed a great season last time out as he scored 11 goals and supplied 10 assists in 34 appearances across all competitions for Montpellier.

He would rarely go over two matches without finding the net himself or setting up a team-mate in Ligue 1 last term as his side finished in 15th place, avoiding relegation by three points.

West Ham co-owner David Gold has previously suggested that his side aren’t looking to recruit any new midfielders this summer, however Boudebouz is also adept at playing on the right wing and also as a striker.

Football Insider Verdict

Boudebouz would certainly be a handy addition to Slaven Bilic’s squad. He was in great form last season for one of Ligue 1’s weaker sides and also shouldn’t cost a lot of money if the Hammers were to put forward an offer to match Real Betis’. Gold may feel like the Irons are well-stocked in midfield, but they are only a couple of injuries away from being left with gaping holes in their side. Other than Manuel Lanzini, West Ham don’t really have a natural attacking midfield who likes to slot in behind a striker. Boudebouz could be that player, as well as providing options on the right wing or up front if players like Andy Carroll, Diafra Sakho or Michail Antonio pick up any more injuries.

In other West Ham news, the Irons have made a decision on the future on this 29-year-old first-teamer in light of interest from one of their Premier League rivals.
