Report details obstacles in ambitious Liverpool move for prolific 21-year-old

Liverpool have been dealt some obstacles in their ambitious £60million move for prolific Monaco attacker Thomas Lemar, according to a report.

The Mirror have claimed on their website that the Reds are willing to break their transfer record in order to bring in the 21-year-old left-winger before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

However, they could face a battle at this late stage of the window with the report also stating that France coach Didier Deschamps is not allowing any player to leave his training camp after they meet up later on Monday, while the French Ligue 1 Champions are also said to be reluctant to allow another player to leave this summer.

Monaco have let the likes of Benjamin Mendy, Bernardo Silva and Temoue Bakayoko all leave this summer, while it is also stated that Paris Saint-Germain have agreed a deal for young starlet Kylian Mbappe.

But, while they are resistant to letting Lemar join that list it is also said in the Mirror that it shows that all Monaco players have a price and Jurgen Klopp sees him as the perfect option for his midfield due to his versatility.

Football Insider verdict:

Lemar was on prolific form for Monaco last season bagging a highly impressive 14 goals while also providing 17 assists in 55 matches in all competitions. This season has also seen him return two assists in four Ligue 1 matches and it is clear that he is a very bright young talent that clubs in England should certainly be looking at. Liverpool themselves already have impressive widemen in both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. However, Lemar’s quality and versatility can help take Liverpool to the next level and his ceiling is looking to be world class as he will only get better at his age. Therefore, if the Reds can secure a deal for Lemar then they must do so soon.

In other Liverpool transfer news, the Reds are to sell this young colossus as a trio of English clubs circle.
