Report: Euro giants recruitment guru insists Arsenal star is attainable, fans will be worried

Paris Saint-Germain are laying the foundations for a concerted Premier League striker swoop, according to a report.

The Times claim the French big hitters are preparing an audacious move for Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero this summer following his high profile demotion.

But it is said that PSG director of football Patrick Kluivert is convinced that Arsenal’s Alexis Sánchez “may be a more attainable target” given that he will have only 12 months left on his contract in the summer if he does not commit to a new deal.

The reported revelation will be a concern for Arsenal fans given the wealth and pulling power of the Paris-based club, who have signed some outstanding players for massive fees in recent seasons.

The likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Angel Di Maria, Edinson Cavani, David Luiz and Thiago Silva have all been recruited from illustrious rivals and paid huge wages.

Cavani has been the main man at the French champions this season with 28 goals from 28 matches in all competitions but he turns 30 next week and the club are identifying other striker options.

The Times report that the prolific Aguero is valued well in excess of £80million by City given his goal record, age and the fact he is under contract until 2020.

Sanchez, 28, is likely to be considerably cheaper as he has entered the final 18 months of his contract, which makes Arsenal vulnerable to a major summer bid.

The Chile international is adored by supporters for his scoring exploits, creativity, work-rate and attitude, netting 17 goals and supplying a stunning 16 assists from 31 matches in all competitions this season.

Only Romelu Lukaku, with 16, has scored more than Sanchez’s 15 Premier League goals this season.
