Report: Leeds 20-year-old set for summer exit, club make emphatic decision after trial

By Derek Smithson

Leeds youngster Bailey Peacock-Farrell is expected to leave Elland Road on loan for the upcoming season, according to a report.

The Yorkshire Evening Post claim that the 20-year-old is currently exploring a move to another club and has seen a proposed switch to Oldham dashed.

It is understood that the goalkeeper was preparing to join the League One side on a one-year loan deal and trained with them for four days.

However, the report details that Oldham have decided to search elsewhere and a deal is off the cards following his trial.

Leeds are still prepared to allow Peacock-Farrell to leave in order to experience senior football and an alternative destination is now being searched for.

He is seen as a great upcoming talent at the Yorkshire club, but is unlikely to force his way into Thomas Christiansen’s plans next season.

Rob Green and Marco Silvestri remain senior options for the Whites in goal, while Felix Wiedwald has also arrived this summer in a £500,000 deal from German club Werder Bremen.

Peacock-Farrell has just one senior appearance for Leeds under his belt and has mainly impressed in the club’s youth side.

The shot stopper is now hopefully of a temporary switch to help continue his development and many fans are tipping him to be a star in the future.

Football Insider verdict:

A loan move for Peacock-Farrell this season is certainly in the best interests of everyone and there should be many more potential suitors. The 20-year-old has shown great promise at youth level and now need the opportunity to make the step up. He is not likely to get a look in for Leeds due to the options of Wiedwald, Green and Silvestri ahead of him. However, he could make huge inroads to the first team if he impresses out on loan at another Football League side. The Whites fans are always keen to see youngsters breakthrough into the senior set-up and Peacock-Farrell has the potential to do that in the future.
