Report: Liverpool full-back agrees top-flight switch, set to meet new teammates on Friday
By Harvey Byrne
Liverpool full-back Connor Randall has agreed a season-long loan switch to Scottish Premiership side Hearts, according to a report.
The Daily Mail have reported on their live transfer blog (Thursday, 1.16pm) that the 21-year-old will move north of the border temporarily and is set to meet his new teammates on Friday.
Randall is a product of the famous Liverpool academy, joining at the age of six in 2001.
He had to wait 14 years before making his first team debut for the club, which saw him feature in a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth in the League Cup in October 2015.
He has since played a further seven times for the senior Liverpool, but in the last campaign he featured in just one FA Cup clash against Wolves under Jurgen Klopp.
Randall is still contracted to Liverpool until 2019 and he will hope that a loan move to Hearts will offer him plenty of first team football for when he makes his return to Merseyside.
Football Insider verdict:
With the emergence of young star Trent Alexander-Arnold for the right-back position there is little opportunities for others with Nathaniel Clyne currently holding the position. Even Jon Flangan had to move away from Anfield temporarily in the last campaign in order to see more senior football and it is clear that Randall has to do the same this time around if he has the same ambitions. Additionally, at 21 there is a slim chance that the full-back will properly make it as part of the Reds’ first team and therefore this move will be the perfect opportunity for the youngster to showcase his talents at senior level and attracting possible suitors.
In other Liverpool transfer news, this midfielder has left Anfield for a top-flight European club.
