Report: This is how much Mark Warburton could get from Rangers following axe

By Matt Farr

Mark Warburton could be set to land a huge slice of £1million in compensation for his dismissal as manager at Ibrox, according to a report.

The Scottish Sun report that the 54-year-old, along with backroom staff Davie Weir and Frank McParland, have gone to war with the Rangers board over a suitable compensation fee, with the English League Managers Association (LMA) set to fight their corner.

The former Brentford boss was sacked as Rangers boss following a poor run of results, and departs the club alongside assistant coach Weir, and head of recruitment McParland.

The club initially announced that Warburton had resigned on Friday evening, something that Warburton denied.

Rangers announced the news on their official Twitter page, before Warburton later received an e-mail from club chiefs with their decision.

Despite Warburton’s stance that he did not offer the club his resignation, several reports claim that the Rangers board had grown frustrated over his ‘lack of commitment’ to the club, after he was believed to have made contact with Nottingham Forest over the vacant managerial position – a job that has since been handed to Gary Brazil until the end of the season.

Nevertheless, Warburton’s sudden dismissal has prompted swift legal action, and if he wins the battle, Ramgers could find themselves liable for a sum of up to £1million.

Under 20 coach Graeme Murty is set to take charge of the side when they take on Morton in the Scottish Cup on Sunday.

In other Rangers news, contrary to popular view, Alan Brazil insists the club has made a huge mistake by letting Warburton leave the club.
