Report names Leeds fringe player who has really caught eye of new coaching staff in pre-season

The Leeds United coaching staff have been particularly impressed by Stuart Dallas during pre-season, according to a report.

The Yorkshire Evening Post claim the winger 26, has caught the eye of manager Thomas Christiansen and his backroom team this summer.

It is said that Dallas has stood out despite the vast influx of new arrivals, which has left his role in the team in major doubt after a mixed 2016-17 season in which he was often on the fringes.

The Northern Ireland international, who moved from Brentford in the summer of 2015 for £1.5million, made just 24 starts among 35 appearances in all competitions last season, which yielded a paltry return of three goals and three assists.

In the second half of the campaign, former manager Garry Monk frequently overlooked Dallas for a starting spot in favour of Souleymane Doukara and the on-loan Alfonso Pedraza.

But the Yorkshire Evening Post report that Dallas is firmly in contention for a starting spot in Sunday’s Championship opener against Bolton on Sunday.

Christiansen has an abundance of options for the wide attacking roles, including 2016-17 mainstays Hadi Sacko, Kemar Roofe and Doukara as well as new signings Ezgjan Alioski and Caleb Ekuban.

In other Leeds United news, the Yorkshire giants have ramped up their interest in signing one of the best left-backs in the Championship.
