Report reveals tycoon with £30billion at their fingertips ‘serious player’ in Newcastle deal

International business tycoon Amanda Staveley has real interest in purchasing Newcastle United after Mike Ashley put the club up for sale, according to a report.

The Telegraph claim on their website that the British financier, who fronts PCP Capital Partners, has £30billion worth of backing from Middle East investors and is a “serious player” in the potential takeover of the north east club.

The report states that “her interest is genuine” after she was spotted at the club’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool earlier in the season, where she was reported to speak with key members of the Newcastle United hierarchy.

Newcastle revealed that they had been officially been put up for sale on Tuesday via a statement from St James Holdings Limited, the company which owns Newcastle and fronted by Ashley

Staveley has experience of dealing with Premier League sides in the past, having played the role of advisor to Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Mansour during his takeover of Manchester City back in 2008.

However it is said that the is looking to be the head figure rather than acting in a peripheral role as she looks to invest in a Premier League club, having reportedly twice failed with a move for Merseyside giants Liverpool.

If Ashley does leave Newcastle this year it will see his 10 year reign at the club come to an end, during what has been a tumultuous decade for the club, having suffered two relegations and several decisions which have angered the Geordie faithful.

In other Newcastle United news, Alan Pardew has claimed that this current player was signed ahead of a man now worth £70million.
