Report: Tottenham ace informs Pochettino that he will reject move to PL rivals

By Aramide Oladipo

Tottenham ace Dele Alli is set to rebuff a move to fellow Premier League rivals Manchester City, according to a report.

Spanish outlet Don Balon reports that City boss Pep Guardiola is a huge admirer of the 21-year-old and he was looking to add him to his first-team squad.

However, the report claims that Alli is unhappy with the Spaniard after referring to Spurs as the “Harry Kane team” following City’s impressive victory against Premier League champions Chelsea before the international break.

The England international has reportedly informed Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino that he would not consider a move to the Etihad Stadium even if they offered £177million to sign him.

The attacking midfielder has been an absolute revelation for the North London club over the past couple of seasons.

Alli has now become one of the most important players in the Spurs first-team and his relationship on the pitch with playmaker Christian Eriksen and talisman Harry Kane has helped turn the club into genuine title contenders.

The youngster has already contributed with three goals and one assist in all competitions this season.

Alli currently has five years remaining on his contract with the North London club.

Football Insider verdict

City boss Guardiola has appeared to shoot himself in the foot with his “Harry Kane team” comment. Pochettino addressed the issue before this weekend’s fixtures and Alli is now reportedly unwilling to join forces with the Manchester club. This will be music to ears of Spurs supporters given that there has been a lot of speculation surrounding the youngster’s future given his quick rise from non-league football in the past couple of years. However, it will be interesting to see how Spurs react should City place a ridiculous offer on the table for Alli in the near-future.
